And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. Lev.1:1-4

The law of the sanctuary service, for the sacrifice of sin was given from the mercy seat, not from the Sinai. SC30.2, 31.0

When the priest offered the incense before the Lord, he looked to the mercy-seat. Although he could not see it, he knew it was there; and as the incense arose like a cloud, the glory of the Lord descended upon the mercy-seat, and filled the most holy place, and was visible in the holy place. The priest in the holy place, directing his prayer by faith to the mercy-seat, which he could not see, represents the people of God directing their prayers to Christ before the mercy-seat in the heavenly sanctuary. 1SP274

If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. Lev.1:3

God calls for the offering to be without blemish, no physical defect.  SD 243.1

The Lord our Redeemer clothed His divinity with humanity, and wrought out on behalf of man a character that was without spot or blemish

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Psalm 85:10

And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done and be guilty; Or if his sin which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.  Lev 4: 27-28

Female used for sin offering. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.  1Tim 2:14

And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. Lev.1: 4

It was an atonement for the sinners. All nature came under the curse of sin (first death) i.e., sickness sorrows and etc.

Important truths concerning the atonement were taught the people by this yearly service. In the sin offerings presented during the year, a substitute had been accepted in the sinner’s stead; but the blood of the victim had not made full atonement for the sin. It had only provided a means by which the sin was   transferred to the sanctuary PP  356

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, if a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them.  Lev 4: 2

Here we have the sin of ignorance, and it tells what sin is. It is anything against any of the commandments of the Lord. Since the laws of nature are the laws of God, it is plainly our duty to give these laws careful study. We should study their requirements in regard to our own bodies and conform to them. Ignorance in these things is sin. CD 18.2

And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which should not be done and are guilty.Lev.4: 13

Here is another sin of ignorance but we are guilty: When the sin which they have sinned against it, is known, then the congregation shall offer a young bullock for the sin, and bring him before the tabernacle of the congregation.

When it is known, a sacrifice is called for to have it forgiven, in other words When I have committed sins in ignorance, and then later come to see them as they are, I must put them on my sacrifice, Christ in order to be forgiven.

Sin= Transgression of the Law

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1peter 1: 18-19

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1: 29

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.Heb.9: 22

Christ shed blood was for remission or putting away of sin. As the lamb took away the sins of the confessed sinner. So does Christ, the lamb of God. By the shed blood on the cross my sins are put away. If I placed them on Him.

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

And they shall take of the blood and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast wit] fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

And thus, shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S pass over. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 12:13   And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

The governor answered and said unto them, whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

Pilate saith unto them, what shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, let him be crucified. Matt. 27: 21-22

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Christ was nailed to the cross between the third and sixth hour, that is between nine and twelve o’clock. In the afternoon He died. This was the hour of the evening sacrifice. Then the veil of the temple, that which hid God’s glory from the view of the congregation of Israel, was rent in twain from top to bottom.  SD 228.2
